Neuvostoliiton kuuluisimman säveltäjän Dmitri Šostakovitšin (1906-1975) elämänvaiheisiin pohjautuva muhkea sarjakuvateos on vuosikymmeniä kattava kuvaus taiteilijasta, hänen ajastaan ja aikalaisistaan.
Säveltäjän uralle mahtui niin kansainvälistä nousukiitoa kuin hengenvaarallista alhoa: keskiöön nousee etenkin Šostakovitšin ja Stalinin kiikkerä suhde, joka ei tunnu päättyvän edes toisen kuolemaan.
Sivuhenkilöinä matkan varrella nähdään mm. Vsevolod Meyerhold, Zinaida Reich sekä Anna Ahmatova.
Aapo Kukko (s. 1991) on kemiläislähtöinen mutta ajan saatossa oululaistunut sarjakuvantekijä, kuvittaja ja käsikirjoittaja.
Vuodesta 2008 lähtien sarjakuvia julkaisseen Kukon tuotannossa Punainen Beethoven on hänen laajamittaisin teoksensa.
Kirjan loppuun on musiikkitoimittaja Jaani Länsiö kirjoittanut esseen Dmitri Šostakovitšista.

Jumalten miekka on Stan Sakain tähän mennessä pisin ja kunnianhimoisin Usagi-tarina. Se esittelee omaleimaisen sarjakuvantekijän luovuutensa huipulla.
Taivaassa taottu jumalten miekka tunnetaan nimellä Kusanagi, Niittosirppi.
Tämä myyttinen ase on ollut merkkinä jumalten suosiosta Japanin hallitsijalle ja auttanut alakynnessä olevia ja ylivoimaista vihollista vastaan taistelevia.
Miekka on kuitenkin kadonnut sisällissotien melskeissä jo vuosisatoja sitten.
Jos ase sattumalta löytyisi, se voisi kääntää vallan tasapainon salaperäisen Kahdeksan salaliiton eduksi heidän pyrkiessään kaatamaan shogunaatin ja palauttamaan keisarivallan.
Kohtalon antaessa Niittosirpin vaeltavan samurain Usagi Yojimbon käsiin, joutuu tämä keskelle taistelua, jota ei hän ei osannut odottaa ja jolle hän ei voi kääntää selkäänsä.
Jumalten miekassa perusteellisesti tutkittu mytologia ja poliittinen historia ovat keskiössä tarinassa, johon nivoutuu useita Usagi Yojimbon saagan rakastetuimmista hahmoista heidän taistellessaan raivokkaasti koko kansakunnan kohtalosta.
Usagin seikkailujen kenties eeppisin tarina on täynnä jumalia, historiaa, noituutta ja petoksia, eikä sen vaikutuksilta säästy kukaan.

Juho Juntunen: Kamalimmat klassikot (ENNAKKOTILAUS)

Tampereella vaikuttava Juho Juntunen (s. 1953 Oulussa) on riemastuttanut ja kauhistuttanut sarjakuvillaan ja pilapiirroksillaan erinäisiä lukijasukupolvia.
Juice Leskinen & Coitus Intin Per Vers runoilija -levyn välissä ilmestynyt sarjakuvaliite herätti ansaittua huomiota jo vuonna 1974.
Sitä seurasivat Soundin Poikamme musisoivat -sarjakuva ja pilapiirrokset, joita lehti julkaisi vuoteen 2014 saakka.
Juntunen on luonut myös mittavan uran musiikkitoimittajana ja tehnyt lukemattomia levyn- ja kirjankansia. Hänet palkittiin Suomen sarjakuvaseuran Puupää-hatulla vuonna 2008.
Kamalimpiin klassikoihin on valikoitu Soundin vuosina 2006-2011 julkaisemia pilakuvia.
Niissä seikkailevat mm. maailman suurin peräaukko, tunnettu kärsämies Erkki, forssalaiset pääsiäispuput, viikatemies, Jumala ja joulupukki sekä MC Tuskan pottunokkaiset prätkä-äijät.
Rankanpuoleisista aiheista huolimatta Juntusen työt ovat harvoin häijyjä. Hänet on helppo kuvitella myhäilemässä työpöytänsä takana leppeä pilke silmäkulmassaan.
Susi Nousiainen & Sara Valta: Se on amisjuttu! (ENNAKKOTILAUS)

“Se on amisjuttu!” ilmestyy keskelle amisnuorista käytävää yhteiskunnallista keskustelua.
Mediassa ammattiin opskelevat nuoret nähdään milloin aikuisten huolenaiheina, milloin osana koulutuspoliittista keskustelua.
Onko amisnuorten asema muuttumassa?
Nuorten itse visioimat tarinat rikkovat stereotyopioita ammattiin opiskelevista nuorista.

Nousiainen teki sarjisetnografiaa ammattioppilaitoksissa Koneen Säätiön vuosina 2022-2025 rahoittamassa hankkeessa.
Nousiainen ja sarjakuvataiteilija Sara Valta muokkasivat kerätyn tutkimusaineiston sarjakuvakirjaksi, joka mahdollistaa ajatusten ja tunnelmien välittämisen laajalle yleisölle.
Susi Nousiainen on kuvataiteilija ja tutkija, joka on kiinnostunut tiedon luomisesta osallistavien ja taidelähtöisten menetelmien kautta.
Sara Valta on turkulainen sarjakuvataiteilija ja kuvittaja. Ihmissuhteiden suuret ja pienet monimutkaisuudet läpäisevät monia hänen töitään, jota on julkaistu Suomen lisäksi Skotlannissa, Yhdysvalloissa, Ranskassa ja Englannissa.
