Jarkko Vehniäinen & Marja Lappalainen: Kamala luonto – Täyttä elämää
Kamalan luonnon persoonalliset eläinhahmot ovat rehellisesti sitä mitä ovat.

FUTURE kietoo lukijansa eri ajoissa tapahtuvien tarinoiden verkkoon, josta on ensihämmennyksen jälkeen hankala päästää irti.
FUTURE kertoo ihmiskunnan erilaisista tulevaisuuksista. Tommi Musturi tarinoi paitsi tulevaisuutta kuvitellen ja nykyhetkestä ammentaen, myös erilaisten historiallisten viittausten, utopioiden sekä ideaalien kautta.
FUTURE yhdistää jotain lukijalle tuttua johonkin täysin vieraaseen.
Scifi-spektaakkeli päätyy avaruudessa päämäärättömästi leijailevaan muovipussiin ja tämän sisältä avaruutta tutkivaan parivaljakkoon; toisaalla lähitulevaisuudessa kaikki varallisuus ja valta on keskittynyt yhteen raunioituneen pariskunnan johtamaan yhtiöön; jossain aivan muualla lukija löytää itsensä sattumalta kadonneesta salaperäisestä kaupungista Centrasta; entä miten sieltä täältä esiin putkahtava tekoäly IDA liittyy tähän kaikkeen?
FUTURE yllättää lukijansa myös piirrostyylein. Sarjan jokainen aikataso on toteutettu erilaisin kerronnan tavoin.
Tyylien kirjo on osa kokonaisuutta ja kuljettaa lukijaa ihmiskunnan eri aikojen tunnelmiin. Kokonaisuus on poikkeuksellisesti ilmaisumuotoa uudistava sarjakuvateos – harvoin on sarjakuva ollut ilmaisultaan näin vitaali ja monitahoinen.
Tommi Musturi (s. 1975) on kuvataiteilija ja yksi kansainvälisesti tunnetuimpia suomalaisia sarjakuvantekijöitä. FUTURE-kirja ilmestyy yhtä aikaa seitsemässä eri maassa.
17. Fingerpori-kokoelman kantta koristaa Petri Malja, monet liemet keittänyt Fingerpolin retrotutkija ja Heimo Vesan työkaveri.
Pertti Jarla on omin käsin koonnut vuoden hauskimmat fingerstripit koko kansan riemupakkaukseksi.
Ihmekaupunki Fingerporin tutut hahmot tulkitsevat vuoden tapahtumat omintakeisella tyylillään.
Wallu Vaalio: Lämsänperäläiset – Maalaa musta kuva!
Sanatonta huumoria lukutaidottomille!
Lämsänperäläiset eli kansainväliseltä nimeltään Armas on Hämeestä kotoisin olevan sarjakuvataiteilija Wallun hiljaisin sarjakuva.
Sarjan ensiesiintyminen tapahtui jo vuonna 1977 paikallislehti Hämeenkulmassa, mutta sen kulta-aikaa oli 1980-luvun loppu, jolloin se ilmestyi lähes 50 lehdessä.
Sarjan sankari Armas ei puhu, ei pukahda, mutta tekstittömät sarjat on siitä huolimatta luettava huolella. Huumori on nimittäin piilossa piirroksissa.
Lukija ei siis tarvitse perinteistä lukutaitoa, vaan sitä hauskempaa: kuvanlukutaitoa.

Wallu Vaalio: Hessu-kissan kissanpäivät (ENNAKKOTILAUS)

Hessu-kissa on seikkaillut Lastenmaa-lehdessä jo joulusta 1985 alkaen.
Voidaan siis puhua pienimuotoisesta lastensarjakuvaklassikosta!
Puupää-hatullakin palkittu taiteilija ja luokanopettaja Harri Wallu Vaalio aloitti sarjan piirtämisen, kun hänen silloiset tokaluokkalaisensa ilmestyivät eräänä kesäloma-aamuna hänen ovelleen ja toivat hänelle lahjaksi kissanpennun, jonka olivat jo nimenneet Hessuksi. Hessu on siis ihan oikea kissa.
Hiiri Pikkulakin asuu taiteilijan talossa, sillä usein iltaisin vintiltä tai jostain seinän raosta kuuluu rapinaa.
Mutta Pikkulaa Wallu ei ole onnistunut koskaan näkemään, ja siksi hiiri ei olekaan piirroksissa ihan oikean hiiren näköinen.
Tämän Hessu-kirjan sarjakuvia ei ole aiemmin julkaistu kirjana.
Mutta nyt MIAU! eli iloisia lukuhetkiä!

Sarjakuvan paikka päivittää suomalaisen sarjakuvan 2020-luvulle. Se kartoittaa sarjakuvan tilan osana suomalaisen taiteen kenttää. Samalla se määrittelee lukijalle, mitä “nykysarjakuva” oikein on.
Suomessa työskentelee tällä hetkellä useampi sarjakuvataiteilija kuin koskaan ennen.
Sarjakuvakirjoja tehdään laaja-alaisemmin ja paneutuneemmin kuin koskaan.
Sarjakuvayhdistys Kutikuti ry:n teettämän kyselyn mukaan taiteilijat joutuvat kuitenkin yhä tekemään työtään projektiluontoisesti, muiden töiden ohessa. Kentän rakenteet ovat muutenkin löyhät. Kirjan toimittaja Ville Hänninen tutkii teoksessa 2020-lukuisen sarjakuvan tilaa sitä eri suunnista tarkastellen.
Kirja käyttää yhtenä aineistonaan suomalaisen sarjakuvan kentälle keväällä 2023 tehtyä laajaa kyselyä.
Teosta varten tehty kartoitus selvitti kotimaisten sarjakuvantekijöiden sisältöjä, työnkuvaa, toimeentuloa, yleisöjä sekä yleisesti sarjakuvataiteilijan arkea ja tämän ajatuksia työstään nyt ja tulevaisuudessa.
Kirjan sisältö tarkastelee sarjakuvaa ja sen tilaa myös ilmaisumuotoa ympäröivien rakenteiden kuten rahoituksen, sarjakuvakritiikin, mediatilan, näyttelytoimen eri toimijoiden kautta.
Teoksen kolme esseetä kartoittavat suomalaisen nykysarjakuvan historiaa (Tommi Musturi), sarjakuvan ja kuvataiteen rajapintaa (Aarnoud Rommens, Kanada) sekä tekoälyn roolia tulevaisuuden sarjakuvassa (Ilan Manouach, Kreikka).
