KOTIMAISET UUTUUDET
Vaikenemalla asiat pysyvät ennallaan, puhumalla luomme tulevaisuutta.
Pasifisti Yrjö Kallinen sai sisällissodan aikana kuolemantuomion, mutta selvisi siitä – puhumalla. Kuolemantuomioita tuli vielä kolme lisää, mutta nekään eivät päätyneet täytäntöön.
Tositapahtumiin perustuva sarjakuvaromaani käy läpi Kallisen hämmästyttäviä elämänvaiheita.
Tarinan ytimessä ovat Oulun tapahtumat alkutalvella 1918 sekä toukokuu 1948, jolloin Kallinen toimi Suomen puolustusministerinä.

Se on edelleen vavahduttavaa kuunneltavaa ja katsottavaa.
Aapo Kukko (s.1991) on oululaistunut kemiläinen ja Suomen lähihistorian utelias kaivelija.
Puhumalla paras jatkaa temaattista linjaa, jonka voi katsoa alkaneeksi jo sarjakuvanovellikokoelmassa Riekaleita (Arktinen Banaani 2015) ja jalostuneen teoksessa Sosialisti ja nihilisti (Arktinen Banaani / Zum Teufel / Täysi Käsi 2019).
Carl Barks: Loput Barks-tarinat
Tähän kirjaan on koottu Carl Barksin muille taiteilijoille kirjoittamat Disney-kertomukset.
Kirjan kuvituksesta vastaavat monet taitavat Disney-kuvittajat, kuten Vicar, Paul Murry ja William van Horn.
”Hevostellen halki historian” vie ankat muinaisen Troijan aarteiden jäljille, ja kertomuksessa ”Pitkän iän salaisuus” he matkustavat salaperäiseen Khunza-laaksoon ihmettelemään paikallisten pitkää ikää ja terveyttä.

Mika Lietzén (synt. 1974) on turkulainen sarjakuvataiteilija, jonka aiempia teoksia ovat mm. Minä olen saari (2018) ja Taipumaton Tanner (2021).

J. M. DeMatteis & Mike Zeck: Spider-Man – Kravenin viimeinen jahti
Hämähäkkimiehen perivihollinen, saalistaja Kraven, on jahdannut sankaria jo vuosikaudet.
Nyt Kraven on palannut New Yorkiin, ja hänellä on uusi, äärettömän pirullinen suunnitelma, joka tulee järisyttämään seittisankarin maailmaa perinpohjin.
Onnistuuko verenhimoinen metsästäjä viimeinkin päihittämään Hämiksen?
Kirjoittaja J. M. DeMatteis tunnetaan hienovaraisista ja psykologisen terävistä tarinoista (mm. nuortenkirjasarja Abadazad) ja veteraanikuvittaja Mike Zeck (mm. Salatut sodat) dynaamisesta piirrosjäljestä.

Matti Hagelbergin novelleja ihmishenkilöiden kohtalonhetkistä.
Matti Hagelberg (synt. 1964) on suomalainen sarjakuvataiteilija, jonka aiempia teoksia ovat Holmenkollen (2000), Kekkonen (2004), Silvia Regina (2010) sekä lähes 1500-sivuinen suurteos Läskimooses (2021), joka valittiin Kirjataiteen vuoden kauneimmaksi kirjaksi.
Hagelberg on palkittu myös Puupää-hatulla vuonna 1997 ja Suomi-palkinnolla 2012.
Hänen teoksiaan on käännetty useille eri kielille.

Pyöräily on kätevä tapa liikkua paikasta toiseen.
Se on myös paljon muuta: tunteita, muistoja, riemua, ärtymystä, ylä- ja alamäkiä, historiaa, tulevaisuutta ja nykyhetkeä.
“Polkimilla” pureutuu pyöräilyn olemukseen ja mahdollisuuksiin sekä yhteiskunnan että yksilön tasolla.
Lukija pääsee mukaan matkalle pyöräilyn historiaan ja katselee teoksen luettuaan kaupunkeja uusin silmin.

Juan Diaz Canales & Ruben Pellejero: Corto Maltese – Berliinin yösoitto
Berliini, huhtikuu 1924.
Corto Maltese on tullut Berliiniin tapaamaan vanhaa ystäväänsä Steineria.
Mutta poliisiasemalla hän näkee tuntemattomien vainajien tunnistustaululla yllätyksekseen Steinerin kuvan. Kukaan ei tiedä missä ruumis on.
Käy ilmi, että Steiner on tullut Berliinin ottaakseen osaa alkemistien kongressiin ja liikuskellut sen jälkeen astrologien piireissä. Corto seuraa Steinerin jälkiä Prahaan.

Nyky-Venäjällä vähemmistökansat saavat tanssia eksoottisissa puvuissa sydämiensä kyllyydestä, mutta omankielinen radioasema on jo liikaa.
Taiga – EtnoGraafinen matkakertomus vie lukijan maailmaan ennen koronaa ja sotaa, kun rajat ylittävä yhteistyö sukulaiskansojen välillä oli vielä mahdollista.
Neuvostoajan karmivat puhdistukset saavat konkreettisen muodon paikallisten ihmisten muistoina. Nykyhetki muistuttaa koko ajan enemmän ja pelottavammin historiaa.
Suomalainen sarjakuvataiteilija ja moskovalainen lingvisti tasapainottelevat matkoillaan vainoharhan ja huumorin rajamailla. Sittemmin heidän huolensa ovat osoittautuneet alimitoitetuiksi.

Kirjan matkat liittyvät Elävä kieli -yhteisötaidehankkeeseen, jossa vähemmistökieliaktivistit tekivät ruohonjuurisarjakuvia heille merkityksellisistä aiheista vuosina 2015–2019. Taigan tarinat perustuvat sarjakuvamuotoisille päiväkirjamerkinnöille, joita syntyi useamman luonnoskirjan verran pitkillä junamatkoilla läpi Venäjän.

Jyrki Nissinen (s. 1982) on vieremäläinen monitaiteilija, joka on ilahduttanut ihmisiä sarjakuvilla, maalauksilla ja musiikilla yli kahdenkymmenen vuoden ajan.
Nissisen tyyli on tunnistettava mutta ennalta-arvaamaton, sarjakuvien säännöt ovat omat ja niitäkin hän rikkoo.
Vappuromanssi saksalaiseen tapaan on Nissisen seitsemäs pitkä sarjakuvateos.
Ivanda Jansone: Mustavalkoinen mestariteos (ENNAKKOTILAUS)

Ivanda Jansone tutkailee monitasoisessa esikoisteoksessaan sisintään ja omaa taiteilijuuttaan, taiteen merkitystä ja rinnakkaisia todellisuuksia.
Albumin viidessä novellimaisessa tarinassa realismi ja surrealismi iskevät silmää toisilleen ja lukijalle.
Unenomainen tunnelma saa vastapainokseen realististen hahmojen inhimillisen heikkouden. Taidehistoriaa tunteva voi löytää ruuduista viittauksia surrealismin suurmestareihin. Elokuvahullu huomaa hymyilevänsä hämillään peilikuvansa edessä.
Ivanda Jansone (s. 1982) on Helsingissä vaikuttava sarjakuvantekijä ja kuvataiteilija, joka muutti Latviasta Suomeen vuonna 2008.
Hän opiskelee Kuvataideakatemiassa kohti taidegraafikon tutkintoa.
Kuti, Parnasso ja Grafia ovat julkaisseet hänen lyhyitä sarjakuviaan.
Maija Louhio: Poika joka ei halunnut palata Suomeen (ENNAKKOTILAUS)

Helsingin Kalliota pommitetaan jatkosodan ensimmäisinä kuukausina.
Äiti ja hänen kaksi lastaan joutuvat pakenemaan pommisuojaan, kun isä taistelee rintamalla.
Lääkäri löytää puolitoistavuotiaan kuopuksen keuhkoista varjostuman ja neuvoo lähettämään pojan Ruotsiin.
Tukholmalainen perhe ottaa pienen pakolaisen omakseen ja huolehtii hänestä hyvin.
Tämä oppii kielen ja alkaa pitää mammaa ja pappaa vanhempinaan.
Seitsenvuotiaana pojalle kerrotaan, että hänen täytyy muuttaa takaisin Suomeen, unohtunutta kieltä puhuvaan vieraaseen perheeseen.
Sotalapsen tarina perustuu helsinkiläisen Maija Louhion (s. 1954) työtoverin lapsuusmuistoihin. Louhio on tehnyt työuransa teatterissa lavastajana ja pukusuunnittelijana, ja hänelle on myös taidemaalarin koulutus.
Tämä on hänen ensimmäinen sarjakuvakirjansa.
Anneli Furmark: Tule kanssani kulman taa (ENNAKKOTILAUS)

Viisikymppisen Elisen elämä on vakaata ja järjestyksessä.
Hän on ollut naimisissa Henrikin kanssa 23 vuotta, lapset ovat lentäneet pesästä. Liitto on onnellinen ja rauhallinen, kunnes eräänä päivänä Elise kohtaa avajaisissa Dagmarin.
Dagmar ja Elise asuvat kaukana toisistaan, mutta vetovoima heidän välillään on voimakasta. He ryhtyvät suhteeseen, joka muistuttaa teiniromanssia tekstiviesteineen, musiikkilistoineen ja chattikeskusteluineen. He sanovat olevansa kuin kulttuuritätien Brokeback Mountain. Anneli Furmarkin (s. 1962) Tule kanssani kulman taa on sarjakuvaromaani yllättävästä muutoksesta elämänvaiheessa, jossa kaiken piti olla selkeää.
Kirja kuvaa upeasti kivuliasta uhkapeliä, jonka sydän toisinaan valitsee järjestä piittaamatta.
Tauri Oksala: Operaatio Linko eli droonit Helsingin yllä (ENNAKKOTILAUS)

Pandemia on lusittu ja Stadissa tapahtuu taas, niin hyvässä kuin pahassakin.
Maailma jytää -festivaali kokoaa Suvilahteen tuhansia ihmisiä nauttimaan musiikista ja kauan kaivatusta vapaudesta, mutta omalaatuinen professori Viljakainen näkee väenpaljoudessa mahdollisuuden toteuttaa mielipuolisia mielihalujaan.
Kari Sankari puolestaan on hyytynyt tylsien taloustieteellisten kvartaaliraporttien laatimiseen. Laskelmat ja käyrät unihtuvat, kun sattuma tempaisee Karin kaikkea muuta kuin tylsän tapahtumaketjun vietäväksi.
Jo Kymppiegee-albumissa tutuksi tullut poliisikaksikko Helmi ja Raipe joutuu selvittämään monta kiikkerää juonenkäännettä ennen kuin Helsinki voi huokaista helpotuksesta.
Helsinkiläinen Tauri Oksala (s. 1970) valmistui 1998 Pekka Halosen akatemian taidemaalarilinjalta. Sittemmin hän on suunnitellut mm. elokuvajulisteita ja kirjankansia.
Oksala tunnetaan parhaiten muusikkona: hän soittaa viisikielistä banjoa Jussi Syrenin The Groundbreakers -yhtyeessä sekä tekee musiikkia elokuviin ja televisioon.
Oksalan ensimmäinen sarjakuvakirja Kymppiegee ilmestyi vuonna 2019.
Pat Mills & Joe Colquhoun: Charleyn sota (ENNAKKOTILAUS)

Mukana on Pat Millsin kommenttiraita koko sarjasta sekä Suomea varten kirjoittama esipuhe.
Työväenluokkainen Charley Bourne värväytyy alaikäisenä täynnä isänmaallista intoa sotaväkeen. Hänet lähetetään länsirintamalle vuonna 1916.
Sotilaiden henkeä uhkaa paitsi Saksan armeija myös omien upseereiden toiminta. Kaikki romanttiset illuusiot sotilaallisesta konfliktista karisevat. Ylivoimaisen urhoollisuuden sijaan voiton ratkaisee usein sattuma.
Käsikirjoittaja Pat Millsiä (s. 1949) kutsutaan brittiläisen sarjakuvan kummisedäksi.
Millsillä oli merkittävä rooli myös Judge Dreddin luomisessa.
Mestaripiirtäjä Joe Colquhoun (1926-1987) oli brittiläisen sarjakuvan veteraani, joka piirsi paljon sota- ja urheiluaiheisia sarjakuvia mm. Eagle- ja Buster-lehtiin.

Heikki Prepulan (s. 1939) luoma Kössi Kenguru teki ensiesiintymisensä pala-animaatiossa Kössi Kenguru Pohjolassa vuonna 1968.
Puolituntisia Kössi-animaatioita valmistui vuoteen -76 mennessä kuusi kappaletta, ja myöhemmin vielä neljä lyhyempää jaksoa. Animaatiot on uusittu Pikku Kakkosessa vuosikymmenten varrella lukuisia kertoja.
Kössi Kenguru -sarjakuva ilmestyi Me-lehdessä vuosina 1973–1990, ja siitä ei ennen tätä teosta ole tehty yhtään kokoelmaa.
Ville Hänninen ja Petteri Oja korjasivat tilanteen ja toimittivat niistä edustavan valikoiman. Tunnelmalliset yksisivuiset sisältävät sekä ajan henkeä että ajatonta lastensarjakuvan lumoa.

Cet album modestement baptisé “Les Aventures de l’univers” est déjà une pièce de collection.
Il reprend en effet des histoires courtes parues dans “Les Inrockuptibles”… Qu’y trouve-t-on ? Trondheim (sans “Lapinot”) dans tous ses états, traitant de la vie moderne en général et de sujets aussi lamentables que les Aventures de Régine et son fils.
Rappelez-vous: Régine (reine de la nuit) et son fils avaient allumé une cigarette dans le vol Paris-Miami, et ça nous avait fait le point fort de tous les journaux télévisés pendant au moins trois jours. Trondheim raconte aussi les Aventures de la trouille et les Aventures de les nuages (attention, ceci n’est pas une faute), les Aventures de “porte-monnaie de tous les pays, unissons-nous” ou les boycotts militants?Contre le foie gras, Eurodisney et le Coca-Cola, à cause de la fameuse pièce de 20 centimes dissoute en 48 heures?
Rrumeur jamais vérifiée mais toujours aussi fascinante. Ou alors il avance une réflexion désabusée sur l’intérêt d’être champion du monde du 100 mètres en 9,8 secondes alors que n’importe quel abruti arrive 4 secondes plus tard. Que peut-on faire de quatre secondes dans une vie? Rien.
Ou encore, il nous raconte sa vie à la campagne, sa lutte contre les insectes (un soir, 23 mouches dans la chambre), son petit mouflet qui le fusille de questions basiques auxquelles il tente de fournir des réponses pédagogiques correctes, ou la grande victoire qu’il vient de remporter sur lui-même: il est arrivé à lâcher sa télécommande en regardant une émission.
Bref, Trondheim se met la rate au court bouillon avec une angoisse bien palpable qui fait plaisir à voir? Le tout servi par un graphisme ébouriffant..
